REAL TIME ALERTS

The U1 line can currently operate irregularly in both directions. The reason for this is an operational disruption in the area of Kagraner Platz. Praterstern U1 platform towards Leopoldau - connection to U2 - exit Lassallestraße will be out of service until 15.12.2025! Waiting for spare parts. Praterstern U1 platform towards Oberlaa - connection to U2 - exit Lassallestraße. Repair work is already in progress.

Metro – Operating Hours
The Vienna U-Bahn runs from 5:00 AM to midnight (Sunday–Thursday) and 24 hours on weekends (Friday/Saturday and Saturday/Sunday nights).

Number of Metro Lines
Vienna has 5 main lines: U1 (red), U2 (purple), U3 (orange), U4 (green), and U6 (brown), connecting most of the city and its main tourist attractions.

Key Metro Stops

  • St. Stephen’s Cathedral: U1 or U3 – Stephansplatz.

  • Schönbrunn Palace & Gardens: U4 – Schönbrunn.

  • Prater (Ferris wheel & amusement park): U1 – Praterstern.

  • MuseumsQuartier: U2 – Museumsquartier.


Airport Shuttle

Company name of the shuttle bus/train: City Airport Train (CAT)
Name/Number of the Train: CAT – City Airport Train

Main departure points:

  • At the Airport: Vienna International Airport (Flughafen Wien) – CAT platform located in the airport train station, connected directly to the Arrivals Hall (follow green CAT signs).
  • In the city: Wien Mitte Station (City Air Terminal) – directly connected to U3 and U4 metro lines.

Timetable:

  • From Wien Mitte: 05:37 AM to 10:07 PM
  • From Vienna Airport: 06:08 AM to 11:38 PM
  • Trains run every 30 minutes
  • Travel time: 16 minutes non-stop
